CAMERON STEAD_CREATIVE PRACTICE
Cameron Stead is a visual artist whose practice has spanned painting, drawing, illustration, fibre, performance and video – he is currently experimenting with ways to synthesise these disparate media practices with painting.
Through his practice, Cameron investigates the public and private dichotomy of the human experience. In his artworks, the body, its related objects and activities are sites that reveal multiplicities, contradictions and complex ironies.
Cameron holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from the National Art School and a Bachelor of Communication from the University of Newcastle. He has held exhibitions locally and overseas and is the 2017 winner of the prestigious Kilgour Prize, and a 2020-21 Waverly Studios Artist in Residence.
